Admitted Graduate Students
Congratulations on your acceptance to the Graduate School at Clayton State University! Below is a checklist for success. Please follow these directions for a rewarding graduate experience.
Verification of Lawful Presence documentation: As an admitted student you must prove lawful presence in the United States.
Please submit one of the following documents:
- Current Driver's License or ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008
- Certified U.S. Birth Certificate
- Valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form 1-151 or 1-551)
- Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a Consular
- Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240)
- Current U.S. Passport
- U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561)
- U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570)
We must receive this document before your classes begin. Only a notarized copy or a copy made by Clayton State staff is acceptable.
SWAN (Secure Web Access Network). Your Swan Portal account is your online connection to Clayton State University. You will use the Swan Portal to register for classes, submit online evaluations of instructors, view academic records, personal information, and pay tuition and fees. Once admitted you can establish your account. Login to the SWAN. If you have not already done so, activate your account.
Register for Courses/Remove Registration Hold: How to register step by step instruction. To register for courses, log on to the SWAN portal/launch the DUCK (icon on the tool bar)/go to student services/registration/build your class schedule/select term/then follow instructions on page. First time access to the DUCK requires a PIN derived from your birthday MMDDYY. You will be required to accept the Registration Agreement the first time you attempt to build your class schedule each semester.
Student Advisement: Your Graduate Program Director will advise and guide you through your graduate program. Contact your Graduate Program Director as soon as possible for advisement and information regarding registration. Your program director’s name is listed in your letter of acceptance. Certificate of Immunization: Your immunization history must be transcribed onto the CSU immunization form by your doctor. The form is available on the University Health Services website. If you have complete records or already have records in the statewide registry and need them transcribed onto the correct form, there is a $5.00 fee at University Health Services. You can submit your records to University Health Services; firstname.lastname@example.org.

Laker Card: This card is your student identification card and is used for many important purposes on campus including library services, access to the bookstore, HUB (computer) services, etc. You will need to be registered for your courses before you can obtain the Laker Card. The Laker Card office is located on the first floor of the University Center next to the cafeteria. View the Laker Card website.
Parking Permit for On-campus Parking: To obtain your parking permit you will need to take the following documents to the Public Safety Office: Laker Card, valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, license plate number, make and model of vehicle. Public Safety is located on the second floor of Edgewater Hall. View the Public Safety website.
Text Books: The Loch Shop (University Bookstore) is located on the first floor in Edgewater Hall. View the Loch Shop website. Best practice is to get the syllabus from the professor to ensure you purchase the correct textbook and materials.
HUB: The HUB is Clayton State’s IT department and is located on the first floor in the University Center. You will need your Laker Card for services. Please contact the HUB directly or visit their website to arrange software installation, which is included in your technology fee, or if you have any questions. View The HUB website.
