Clayton State Day at the Georgia Capitol

(March 5, 2025) - On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Clayton State University students, faculty, and staff gathered for the much-anticipated Clayton State Day at the Capitol. This event provided an exciting opportunity for the university community to engage with Georgia’s legislative process, connect with elected officials, and celebrate the institution’s ongoing impact on higher education and the community. 

Participants visiting the Georgia State Capitol were treated to a variety of activities designed to enhance their understanding of the political landscape. The day kicked off with a guided tour of the Capitol building, offering attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the heart of Georgia’s government. The tour was followed by an insightful attendance to both House and Senate Chambers to learn the process of presenting and voting on legislation. Later during the visit, Clayton State University attendees engaged in insightful discussions with local representatives where students and faculty learned how they can make their voices heard in the political process.

One of the most significant highlights of the day was seeing Clayton State University honored by both the Georgia Senate and House of Representatives. Elected officials recognized the university’s contributions to the state’s educational landscape and its positive impact on the local community. It was a proud moment for all those in attendance.

Throughout the day, participants had the chance to meet with legislators, discuss important issues, and thank them for their continued support of higher education. The event also offered a unique opportunity for students to network with colleagues who serve as interns and alumni who currently work in state government, gaining valuable insights into career paths in public service.
