Clayton State University Reports Strong Philanthropic Growth in Fiscal Year 2026
(August 11, 2026) - Clayton State University closed fiscal year 2026 with continued momentum in philanthropic support, raising $2.8 million, a 22.6% increase over the previous fiscal year. Growth was evident across every major philanthropic measure.

The university welcomed 13.9% more donors overall, while the number of alumni donors increased 16.8%. Alumni giving experienced particularly significant growth, with dollars raised from alumni increasing nearly 200% year over year. Faculty and staff participation also continued to grow, with donors from that group increasing 11.5%.
University leaders say the year-over-year gains reflect a growing sense of ownership, pride, and investment in Clayton State’s future. “These numbers represent so much more than dollars raised. They represent people who believe in the transformative impact of Clayton State University and are choosing to invest in its future,” said Vallarie Johnson, Vice President for University Advancement and External Affairs. “We are especially encouraged by the tremendous growth in alumni giving. When alumni give back, it speaks to the pride they have in their alma mater and the confidence they have in where we’re headed. Building meaningful relationships with our alumni, donors, and community partners will continue to be at the heart of our work because every gift creates new opportunities for our students.”
President Georj Lewis echoed that sentiment, pointing to the increase in overall donor participation as a sign of continued momentum for the university. “Every gift represents a belief in our students, our mission, and our future,” said Dr. Georj Lewis. “The growing support from alumni, faculty, staff, and community partners demonstrates that our commitment to transforming lives through education and advancing social mobility is resonating. Together, we are building momentum that will continue to strengthen Clayton State University for years to come.”
Building on this momentum, Clayton State University will continue investing in meaningful relationships with alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and community partners to expand opportunities for students and advance the university’s mission.
