This fall, Clayton State University conferred degrees to over 400 students across a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, faculty, staff, and community members who came together to celebrate the achievements of the graduates.

Key Highlights:

Each commencement speaker delivered an inspiring address to the graduates and supportive attendees.

      • Timothy Wang, Managing Director at Delta Air Lines

      • Nina Packer, Executive Director of the Clayton County Public Schools Foundation

      • Dr. Adrian Washington, Vice President of Client Management for UnitedHealth Group OptumRx who delivered an inspiring address to the graduates.

Several students were recognized for their academic excellence, including Lydia Kell, a 19-year-old student who received her Bachelor’s degree from the School of Nursing and who is also a member of the 1st cohort from the Center for Innovation.

Our student commencement speakers: Alexandra Johnson, Bachelor of Arts , Jaleasa Martin, Masters in Strategic Leadership and Development, and Joshua Babineaux, Masters in Strategic Leadership and Development, all brought a wealth of first-hand experiences coupled with encouragement to their fellow classmates during their commencement speeches.

President, Georj L. Lewis, Ed.D, of Clayton State University commended the graduates for their hard work and resilience. "Resilience is not about avoiding setbacks—it’s about learning from them. It’s about bouncing back stronger after facing adversity. Whether it’s a failed experiment in the lab, a disappointing grade on an exam, or a personal challenge that makes you question your path, the true measure of resilience is not in avoiding failure, but in how you rise after it.”
