Film and Digital Media Center award first recipient of Demarcus Woods Dream Maker Scholarship

(April 13, 2021) - Ryan Lewis, a continuing and professional education student in the Film and Digital Media certificate (FDMC) program, is first recipient of the Demarcus Woods Dream Maker Scholarship.

Ryan Lewis

Lewis wrote, directed and co-produced his short film, “The Repartee,” as his capstone Workshop 2 project. The film, currently in post-production, follows two hitmen and their bungling attempts to get “the job” right.

Lewis plans to use the scholarship money to cover production costs and to promote “The Repartee” – the film, its cast, and its crew – through festival entries. He wants to thank his fellow Workshop 2 students for their dedication and hard work in realizing his vision. He especially wishes to thank the Dream Maker Scholarship’s sponsors for their foresight and generosity in supporting film artists.

The Demarcus Woods Dream Maker Scholarship is sponsored by the Visionaries Foundation and MarcSpeaks (A Dreamer’s Heart), nonprofit organizations awarding scholarships and community support to underserved populations by funding individuals seeking to further their education through nontraditional paths.

The Dream Maker scholarship is needs-based and awarded twice a year in the spring and fall. The $500 scholarships support students enrolled in the Film and Digital Media Center’s certificate program. Any student seeking completion of one of the Film and Digital Media certifications is eligible to apply.
