Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner Admissions
Admission to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program begins with applying through Graduate Admissions.
At this time, Clayton State University cannot accept inquiries from outside the state of Georgia for the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
Clinical Experience: 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
Deadlines
The completed application for admission and a nonrefundable $50.00 (U.S. currency) processing fee payable to Clayton State University should be submitted to the Graduate Enrollment Services by the appropriate deadline specified below. Submit electronic payment with electronic application. An application will not be processed without the application fee, and there are no provisions to waive or postpone this fee.

Admissions Requirements
The Admission Packet includes the following items:

Completed application for admission to the School of Graduate Studies and a $50 application fee. The application fee is non-refundable and may not be applied to any other university fees should you be accepted.
- Transcripts –For admission purposes, graduate enrollment services requires Official transcripts
from the College and/or institution you received your undergraduate degree award.
Must be in a sealed envelope from the institution or sent electronically from the
institution directly to graduate@clayton.edu, which is the preferred method. If you
graduated from Clayton State University, you do not need to request a copy of your
degree award transcript.
Admission to the Master of Science in Nursing program requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and current, unrestricted RN Georgia licensure. All students entering the FNP program must have already taken a baccalaureate level pharmacology course and passed the course with a grade of B or better. Students who completed a combined pathophysiology/pharmacology course with a grade of B or better may submit course syllabus to determine if content is appropriate to meet this prerequisite. - Two letters of recommendation. Two letters of recommendation that comment on the applicant’s potential for success in a graduate academic program. Letters should be on institutional letterhead and emailed directly to Graduate Enrollment Services (graduate@clayton.edu).
- A statement of purpose. Statement of Purpose should be no more than two (2) typewritten pages, single-spaced.
The statement should describe the applicant's pertinent personal and professional
experience and education, as well as his or her interests and goals in pursuing the
Master of Science in Nursing degree.
- An interview on campus may be required. Email Michelle Nelson, Master of Science in Nursing Graduate Program Director to notify her that you have submitted application - michellenelson@clayton.edu.
- Clinical Experience. 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
- Licensure and Certification. Proof of current unrestricted Georgia RN license or eligibility for Georgia RN licensure is required for admission. Proof of licensure, regardless of state, is required prior to the end of the first semester.
