Alumni Spotlight: Lauren Huff
(June 4, 2018) - Going back to school as a non-traditional student, Lauren Huff ’05 knew she wanted to attend a college that would offer smaller class sizes.
“I did not want to be just a ‘student number,’” she recalls.
While at Clayton State, she discovered a comfortable environment, where she thrived in her Integrative Studies program. Outside the classroom, Huff was a staff writer for The Bent Tree, the student newspaper, and interned at WSB-TV.
Upon leaving Clayton State, Huff continued her academic pursuits and received a Master of Public Administration and in 2016 earned her Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration.
Huff currently works for the Georgia Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget as a human resources generalist, where she recruits and provides HR support for several state agencies. She previously worked in human resources at the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and Goodwill of North Georgia.
She noted human resources is not an easy field to break into and recommended interested students “gain some experience by interning or volunteering in an HR office.”
