Clayton State earns Tree Campus USA School distinction for seventh year
(August 24, 2020) - Clayton State University has for the seventh consecutive year been recognized as a tree-friendly campus by earning the 2019 Tree Campus USA School designation. The university joins more than 300 other higher education institutions who have been recognized by the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation for effective campus forest management.
The University met five core standards set by the Arbor Day Foundation to earn the distinction–establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance, and the sponsorship of student-learning projects.
Moving forward in 2020, the Arbor Day Foundation will rename the Tree Campus USA program to Tree Campus Higher Education. The new name distinguishes the college and university program from its k-12 and healthcare counterparts.
