Dental Hygiene Clinic to serve community veterans

(November 7, 2024) - America’s veterans have dedicated so much to our community and to our country throughout the course of their lives.

Veteans dental hygiene services

And for those in south Metro Atlanta, Clayton State University’s Dental Hygiene Program is prepared and ready to take care of them, just as they took care of us.

The university’s Dental Hygiene Clinic is proud to offer free dental services to any veteran visiting the clinic for treatment the week of November 11-15 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Those services include oral health screenings, radiographs, cleanings, fluoride treatment, nutritional counseling, and more.

“Providing dental care at no charge is a way to honor and recognize the sacrifices veterans have made for our country,” said Dr. Naquilla Thomas, the head of CSU’s Dental Hygiene Program. “It's a tangible way to give back to those who have served. Dental Health services not only improve veterans’ quality of life but also enriches the educational experience for students involved.”

“I believe strongly in giving back to a community of individuals who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Dental Hygiene Asst. Prof. Heather Eddy. “It's one small way to show our appreciation and gratitude. We know that oral health is linked to overall health, and it is especially important to help bridge the gap, especially since many veterans may not be eligible for dental services through the VA.”
