College of Business Hosts S.T.E.M. Social Innovation Challenge for Entrepreneurs

(November 12, 2025) - The Center for Social Innovation & Sustainable Entrepreneurship (CSISE) in the College of Business at Clayton State University recently hosted its third Social Innovation Challenge. This year’s competition focused on S.T.E.M.-based solutions that positively impact the world and the local community as identified in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The competition was supported by grants from VentureWell and Truist.

During the competition the participants had 10 minutes to pitch their business proposal. This included a seven-minute and a three-minute Q&A with the judges. In preparation for the competition, the participants were exposed to design thinking assessments, social innovation business canvas, technology-based solutions, and pitching excellence.

The S.T.E.M. challenge was part of the College of Business’ Innovation Week – a four-day series of special events for students to directly hear from thought-provoking speakers, participate in interactive workshops, and engage in transformative opportunities to connect with forward-thinking leaders.

"The Social Innovation Challenge invites students to unleash their creativity and talents to tackle real-world problems," Dr. Stacey Reynolds, Director, Center for Social Innovation and Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Associate Professor of Management remarked. "This isn’t just another contest; it’s a launchpad for students to turn bold ideas into impactful action. We can’t wait to witness the difference their innovations will make in the years ahead both locally and globally."
