One Hour A Month
The One Hour A Month program is an ongoing volunteer and involvement experience for alumni who want to make an impact on the future of Clayton State University. The One Hour A Month program is for all alumni, no matter where you live. Create and share stories and respond to topic prompts asking for advice and reflections.
After providing some biographical information so the alumni office can keep track of the months you participate, you will then select your volunteer activity, or time bundle. These bundles are listed and described below. Each month there will be a focus activity that coincides with needs of the University and/or Alumni Association. Most activities will have at least one follow-up question.
Beyond the great feeling that comes with making an impact on your alma mater, as you complete more activities and continue participating each month, you will get great Clayton State swag and prizes. These prizes are listed to the right.

Share a Job Posting in Alumni LinkedIn Group
Clayton State is a vast network. There are over 25,000 alumni, and almost 20,000 of us live in the Atlanta metro area! When one of us succeeds, we all succeed, and the value of our degree continues to rise. Especially now, many of your fellow alumni are looking for that next job or promotion. Some of our recent graduates are looking for their first job. Let's all come together and help each other out! If you know of a job posting--or even better, are on the Hiring Committee for a job at your company--let your fellow Lakers know by posting on our LinkedIn.
Speak to a class of Clayton State students
Clayton State professors and staff regularly seek the expertise and wisdom of alumni in their classroom. Volunteer today to let the alumni office and other faculty/staff know that you are willing to speak to a group of students.
Become a Member of the Alumni Association
Great programs and events like Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, Senior Toast, and others can't happen without our members. Your membership in the Alumni Association also supports the Dream Maker Scholarship fund. Make this your easiest month as membership is only $35 for the entire year, or even $3/month.
Recommend Alumnus/a for Spotlight
Clayton State alumni are regularly making big impacts in their profession or community, and they deserve to be recognized! The Alumni Association regularly profiles alumni on our website and social media, and we need you help us continue to hear about these stories.
Submit a Class Note
Get a new job? A promotion? A master's or doctoral degree? Get married? Have a baby? Let us share with the Laker family this significant life accomplishment. Tell us about this achievement and the alumni office might publish it in the Laker Connection magazine or on the Clayton State website.

Lakers at Work
What better way to show your Laker pride than at the office!? Share a photo of your work station and/or office decorated in Laker swag.
Lakers Letters
Want to help make an impact on the future of Clayton State? Volunteers with the Lakers Letters card-writing initiative help the Admissions office recruitment efforts by writing notes to prospective students. You can highlight your Clayton State experience and help us encourage these students to become Lakers. When you volunteer, you will be provided a list of students who have been accepted to Clayton State, along with further instructions.
Alumni Event Volunteer
The programs the Alumni Association offers are not possible without the help of our volunteers. If you helped out at an official alumni event this month, register this as your time bundle. Share a photo with us of your time spent as a volunteer, and we might share it on social media or on our website.
Nominate an Alumnus/a for the Alumni Board or Young Alumni Council
The Alumni Board and Young Alumni Council are groups critical to the success of the Alumni Association. Their valuable input allows the Office of Alumni Engagement to have a broad understanding of the needs and wants of our alumni. To maintain a robust and diverse group of alumni on these two boards, we regularly ask alumni to submit nominations. You can nominate someone else, or you can nominate yourself.
Write Alumni Expert Article
Clayton State alumni are experts in all kinds of fields. Do you know the steps to starting a business? Are you an accountant who can offer advice on taxes? Do you work in marketing and branding? Are you a real estate agent who can help with buying a first house? Do you have expertise in wills and estate planning? Other Clayton State alumni could use your help! Submit your Expert Article of 750-1,000 (or more if you'd like) words, and we will work with you to get it published on our website and on social media.
Mentor a Clayton State Student in Laker Link
Laker Link brings students preparing for the professional world together with alumni and industry leaders who, as mentors, can share their experiences. The program is an online, easy-to-use platform designed to cultivate meaningful mentorship opportunities for the Laker community. Mentors can sign up to review resumes, answer industry-specific questions, and share their professional experience and advice.
Don't Have Time this Month?
Small gifts really can make a big impact! Sign up as a monthly recurring donor to the fund of your choice and count this as your time for this month. If every alumnus/a gave $5/month, it would add up to over $1.5 million in scholarships and learning opportunities for Clayton State students.
