Certificate in Artificial Intelligence

To meet the rapidly evolving demands from the AI workforce, the department of Computer Science and Information Technology offers a pre-baccalaureate (undergraduate) Certificate in Artificial Intelligence Program. The program provides an opportunity to prepare for an AI career for high school graduates, working adults, and other audiences who want to pursue a career in AI but not to require a bachelor's degree. These students in the program may not need a bachelor's degree but require knowledge and skills in AI to start a career, consolidate a career, or change to a new career in AI. The program also allows Clayton State University students majoring in any programs to expand their skill sets in AI on top of their specific study area to be more competitive in the job market. All students in the program will experience AI coursework, learn AI and machine learning applications in various fields through seminars, and during the journey to the certificate in AI.

Student Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the program, students will be able to

  1. Master skills in computational coding and applications
  2. Apply GenAI to real-world challenges in a broad range of application domains.
  3. Use machine learning tools to solve real world problems in various domains.

Program Description

The undergraduate Certificate in AI program seeks to provide students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree in AI with the opportunity to study AI to start or change to a career in AI related professions. It also provides an opportunity for students in any majors to study AI to enhance their spectrum of skills. This certificate can enhance an individual’s credentials for working in any area which uses AI skills. The program consists of three courses (9 credit hours) that cover the basic coding in AI, applied AI, applied machine learning, and AI application seminars in various application domains. Students need to complete CSCI 1300, CSCI 2210 and CSCI 2220 with a "C" or better to earn the certification.

Students in the certificate programs are not eligible for financial aid.

Program Length

This pre-baccalaureate certificate program can be completed in as little as 1 semester. Certificate completion may take longer depending on the number of credits taken per semester.
