Institutional Scholarships
The Financial Aid Office manages all scholarships, so students do not need to take any action to be considered. All accepted entering freshmen, transfer, and enrolled continuing students will be automatically considered for all eligible university- administered scholarships.. Some scholarships will require additional information before an award can be made. Students who meet the minimum criteria will receive an email at their Clayton State email account requesting additional information. Check your Clayton State email account frequently so that you don't miss any important information!
This scholarship was established by the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club in memory of Mr. Mitchell C. Bishop, one of the club’s distinguished members. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA.
This scholarship was established as a memorial to Alice J. Smith. Must be nursing or teacher education major and have a minimum 2.8 institutional GPA.
The Baker Family Annual Scholarship is established by Gordon N. Baker in honor of his parents, Mary N. and Howard F. Baker. Dr. Baker established this scholarship in recognition of the more than 100 years of service the Baker family has contributed to public schools of Clayton and Henry counties. Dr. Howard Baker served as teacher, principal, and Superintendent of Schools. Mrs. Mary N. Baker served as a classroom teacher and was Henry County School 1976 Teacher of the Year. Dr. Gordon N. Baker served as classroom teacher, library/media specialist in both school systems, coordinator of instructional technology and library media services in Henry County, and librarian and Dean of Libraries at Clayton State University. This scholarship is created to provide for students majoring in Education who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, are in good standing, and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who are from Henry, Clinch, or Lowndes counties in Georgia or Columbia county, Florida.
Drs. Annapurna and Subrahmanya Bhat have established the Drs. Annapurna and Subrahmanya Bhat Dream Makers Annual Health Scholarship. This scholarship will provide scholarships to students in the College of Health who have a minimum 3.5 GPA, are in good standing, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the completion of the FAFSA.
This scholarship was established to honor the contributions of Mrs. Benita Moore to the BAS program at Clayton State University. Applicants must be enrolled in the BAS program at Clayton State.
The Dr. Chandler B. Sharma Scholarship is being established in his honor by his family. This scholarship is for students who demonstrate financial need with preference given to an international student.
The Charles Wells Scholarship was created to assist students continue their college education. This scholarship is for retention purposes and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
The Clayton State University Retirees Association has established a scholarship for graduate students at Clayton State. Applicants must be enrolled in a master’s degree program at Clayton State, have completed at least 9 credit hours at Clayton State within their approved graduate program, and must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in their graduate courses.
This scholarship was established in memory of Ernest A. Dunbar, Jr. M.D. Students applying for this scholarship must be in their last two years of undergraduate study at Clayton State University in the fields of Nursing or Healthcare Management. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need which is determined by completion of the FAFSA.
This scholarship is for students who are teacher education majors with priority given to graduates of Clayton County high schools. Applicants must have at least 30 semester hours at Clayton State, be accepted to the teacher education program, and have a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA.
The G. Robert Oliver Endowed Scholarship for Legal Studies is being established by the law firm of Freeman, Mathis & Gary. Applicants must be majoring in any area of Legal Studies.
The GA Power Women in STEM is created to provide scholarships for female students in good standing majoring in STEM related fields and demonstrate a financial need.
This scholarship was established as a memorial to Ms. Gloria Jean (Scott) McElhannon. Applicants must be admitted to Clayton State, be enrolled full-time, have a minimum institutional 2.5 GPA, and must demonstrate financial need which is determined by completion of the FAFSA. Preference will be given to minority students. Entering freshmen are eligible to apply.
This scholarship provides incoming first-time full-time freshmen who are residents of Georgia and not eligible for HOPE scholarship. Students shall have a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0, be in good standing and demonstrate need. Preference given to minority students.
This scholarship has been established by Heritage Bank. Applicants must be full-time students, be admitted to College of Business, and demonstrate financial need which is determined by completion of the FAFSA. Preference will be given to continuing students with a minimum 2.8 institutional GPA, but consideration will be given to those with a 2.5 institutional GPA.
This scholarship was created by gifts from Kay Chester, Gary and Cassandra Hettermann and Janie Hettermann in honor of Don and Louise Hettermann. Applicants must be enrolled in, or admitted to, Clayton State and have a minimum 2.5 GPA; must demonstrate financial need which is determined after completion of the FAFSA. Entering freshmen are encouraged to apply. Funds are designated to student enrolled in the College of Health with preference given to students in the School of Nursing. However, students in the hands-on health profession, such a dental hygienists and allied health technicians are eligible to apply. Recipients may apply for scholarship in subsequent years but must have a minimum 3.0 GPA if reapplying.
This fund is to provide scholarships to students who are in good academic standing, demonstrate a need, and have been identified as not being able to continue their education at CSU due to financial challenges.
The Robert V. Hooks Scholarship is for full-time students in the College of Business with a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA with at least 15 earned hours at Clayton State University.
This scholarship was created by Cox Enterprises and its employees and friends to honor Booker T. Izell. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, be admitted to the College of Business, and demonstrate financial need which is determined after completion of the FAFSA. Preference will be given to continuing students who have a 2.8 or better institutional GPA, but consideration will be given to students with a 2.5 or better GPA.
The James E. and Joan Sutherland Scholarship was created to provide scholarships for students in the College of Business (COB), who are from Clayton County, are in good standing, and demonstrate financial need.
Judith Kanne was the oldest nursing graduate in the history of Clayton State University, earning her degree at the age of 69. In honor of Judith Kanne's passion for learning and devotion to healthcare, her family is establishing this annual scholarship to support the Judith L. Kanne RN, BSN Endowed Scholarship. She left a memorable legacy for students to continue their healthcare education in addition to educating readers about healthcare issues. Peers who interacted with her daily remember her enduring contributions to health awareness and experienced the light she brought to every space. The Judith L. Kanne RN, BSN Nursing Annual Scholarship will provide a scholarship of up to $1,000 each academic year, to a student who is currently enrolled at Clayton State University and has been accepted to the School of Nursing. Students applying for the scholarship will be required to have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and good academic standing within the nursing program.
The Pulliam Foundation provides scholarships for students who have earned at least 20 semester hours at Clayton State with a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA.
The John Word West Foundation offers scholarships to new undergraduate students who will begin attending Fall Semester. Beginning freshmen must have a minimum 3.0 recalculated high school GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1000 (combined scores on Critical Reading and Math only) or ACT composite of 21 or above. Transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA.
This scholarship is available for a student enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. Applicants must be non-traditional students and have a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA. Preference will be given to female, 30 or above, who is enrolled full time.
This scholarship from The Redwine Family Foundation, Inc. is created in memory of Hill Reagan Redwine. Mr. Redwine served as a trustee on the board of directors of the Clayton State University Foundation and was a dedicated leader and supporter of his community. Applicants must have minimum 3.5 GPA and must have graduated from Georgia high school. Applicants may be entering freshman or continuing student.
The Southlake Kiwanis Endowed Scholarship was established by the members of the Kiwanis Club of Southlake. The scholarship will be awarded to a full time student with a GPA of 2.8 or better who demonstrates financial need with preference given to an incoming freshman. If there are no freshmen eligible, the scholarship may be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior.
This scholarship was established by the members of the Southern Regional Medical Center Auxiliary in keeping with the local organization’s long-standing mission of helping deserving students attend Clayton State University. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA who demonstrates financial need as determined by the completion of the FAFSA for the appropriate financial aid year.
The Clayton State Veterans Endowed Scholarship was created to provide scholarships for students in good standing, wh6o are veterans, and demonstrate financial need.
The Clayton State Women’s Forum provides scholarships for women who have completed at least one semester at CSU and have at least two semesters remaining prior to graduation.

College of Business
Atlanta Air Cargo Association Scholarship - This scholarship was established by the Atlanta Air Cargo Association. Applicants must be admitted to the College of Business. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed or who are enrolled in at least one of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management courses and who are working towards the supply chain minor or major with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Consideration will be given to student focusing on studies in the international trade, logistics and/or transportation business field.
Doris Cash Pruitt - This is a perpetual fund created to provide scholarships for exceptional students from the College of Business who have demonstrated aptitude within the field of Economics and/or Finance. The recipient will have completed at least one full year of enrollment at CSU, having successfully completed Accounting I & II and Economics I & II, be in good standing with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and have been identified by a faculty member or Dean from the College of Business. Preference will be given to as student non-traditional.
College of Information and Mathematical Sciences
Billy Nail Scholarship - This scholarship was established by Glenda Nail and friends, family and colleagues in honor and memory of Dr. Billy "Buddy" Nail. Applicants must be enrolled in, or admitted, to Clayton State in the College of Information and Mathematical Sciences; must be taking at least two classes; and must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Contact the College of Information and Mathematical Sciences for information.
Richard Pearce - Moses and Frank Loulan Endowed Scholarship - The Richard Pearce -Moses Frank Loulan Scholarship will provide scholarships for students majoring in Archival Studies who demonstrated exceptional academic achievement. Achievement does not have to be based exclusively on GPA. The student should be in good standing. Preference will be given to students not receiving tuition support from other sources. The funds may be used for tuition, fees, research or travel as relates to their academic studies.
Athletic Department
Mason & Elizabeth Barfield Scholarship Endowment - The Mason and Elizabeth Barfield Scholarship provides funds for an undergrad student-athlete who has served at least one year in the program and has athletic eligibility remaining. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and no failed classes while at CSU. Consideration will be given to student-athletes who have also sustained an injury during a CSU competition or an accident due to an "Act of God".
College of Arts & Sciences
Atlanta Music Project Endowed Scholarship - The Atlanta Music Project (AMP) provides intense music education for under served youth. This scholarship will be awarded to full time students in good standing at CSU; majoring or having a minor or concentration, in music and who are current interns of AMP.
Carnes Music Scholarship - This gift is to support students majoring or minoring in Music with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Pasch Endowed Fund for English Awards - The Pasch Endowed Fund for English Awards provides funds for students enrolled at CSU who are in good academic standing and qualify for the department honors requirements. Preference will be given to students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (or higher) in English who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in the major. Second preference will be given to students pursuing a degree from the College of Arts and Sciences with an English minor or concentration, and who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in the English aspect of their programs.
Disability Services
Ruth Land Endowment Scholarship - The Ruth Land Endowed Scholarship is established by Mr. John McCarter, on behalf of Ms. Ruth Land, a deceased individual who was disabled. The purpose of this scholarship is to aid students of Clayton State University by providing scholarships and meeting identified needs of students with disabilities.
Music Scholarships
Spivey Music Scholarships Spivey Music Scholarships are merit scholarships available to music majors and are awarded in a range of amounts. Awards are generally proportionate to the applicant’s current level of musical accomplishment and can be significant in the case of students whose musical ability and preparedness for academic work in music are extensive. Eligible students may receive a Spivey Music Scholarship in addition to the HOPE Scholarship. Audition is required for entrance into the music program and for any scholarship consideration.
