Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Basic Licensure Track

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) basic licensure track is for students interested in obtaining initial licensure as a Registered Nurse. It combines mathematics, sciences, language arts, social sciences, as well as theoretical and clinical nursing practice. The program is designed to be completed in eight academic semesters of full-time study. The first four semesters are comprised of University System of Georgia core curriculum and prerequisites for nursing majors as well as the transition course HLTH 3200-Pathophysiology. The final four semesters are centered on the nursing major curriculum.

The program admits a  cohort each fall and spring to the main campus in Morrow and a cohort each fall to the Fayette instructional site in Peachtree City. Nursing essentials are taught in the classroom, nursing labs, simulation centers, clinical facilities, community-based agencies and dedicated education units in hospitals within a 50-mile radius of main campus. Priority placement for Fayette campus students will be at Piedmont Healthcare sites (Fayette, Henry and Newnan).

Students with an interest in nursing are admitted to Clayton State University as a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences major with pre-nursing concentration. Separate program application is submitted upon completion of core curriculum and the transition course HLTH 3200 Pathophysiology. Students not admitted to this competitive admission program may continue with the Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in consultation with academic advisor to determine appropriate career path.
