Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of Brotherhood among African descendants in this country. The visionary founders, known as the “Jewels” of the Fraternity, are Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy.

The Tau Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was established January 23, 1999. The founders of the Tau Epsilon Chapter are Brother Dr. John H. Carter, Brother Ronnie Jenkins, and Brother Thomas Walters. Because of their diligent work to establish the chapter, Ms. Veronica Ransom, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the “Mother of the Tau Epsilon Chapter”; Mr. John H. Eaves is the “Precursor of the Tau Epsilon Chapter”; and Ms. Deborah Greer, Director of Special Projects and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is the on-campus chapter mother.

The Tau Epsilon Chapter was chartered on April 23rd, 2002, making it the first undergraduate chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. to be chartered in Georgia in over 10 years.

Since its founding, the Tau Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha has continued to set the standards for others to follow, by upholding the principles of ... Manly deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all mankind.
