Professional Licensure Disclosures

Each U.S. state and territory defines its own requirements for licensing and certification in professional fields. Clayton State University has determined that the curriculum in its educational programs that require licensure meets the state of Georgia educational requirements for licensure or certification.

Prior to enrolling in an educational program that requires licensure, students should contact the program coordinator or department chair (see table below) to determine if the academic program curriculum satisfies a particular state's licensure requirements if you intend to practice outside of the state of Georgia. Students interested in a professional licensure or certification are also encouraged to contact the state's licensing board regarding its requirements for professional practice prior to enrolling in an educational program.

Clayton State University has three online programs, which may lead to, or require, professional licensure:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (BSDH)
  • Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

The RN to BSN and RDH to BSDH programs requires that students already be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Registered Dental Hygienist, respectively, for admission into the program. Students are therefore, not admitted to the program if they do not currently have an active professional licensure in their respective profession.

Our Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner Program, currently has the following stipulation listed on their admissions page:

Clayton State University's MSN Family Nurse Practitioner program can accept out-of-state applicants from eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) states if they are permitted to practice in Georgia (see link to states list below), but clinical rotations must be completed in Georgia under direct supervision of a Georgia licensed provider. The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) allows nurses with a multistate license from other compact states to practice in Georgia without the need for a separate Georgia license, as long as Georgia is not their primary state of residence.
