Cygnet
Cygnet is Clayton State’s student publication that offers all students the opportunity to share their artistic works.
The Cygnet editors accept fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, sequential art, translations, and art submissions from Clayton State University students each year between April 15 and November 30.
Submission Guidelines for Cygnet
All submissions will be entered to the Cygnet Student Contest in Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Nonfiction, unless otherwise specified by the author. The authors of the winning pieces will be invited to read at the Cygnet launch party in April and will receive a prize.
Literature Submissions
Submit TWO typed copies of each piece (12pt, Times New Roman, single spaced) to Dr. Jason Daniels (Arts and Sciences Building G105-H) OR send us an email at cygnet@clayton.edu with the heading SUBMISSION TO CYGNET (write the year of the issue in question here) and attach your submission.
POETRY: Submit up to three poems (maximum 5 pages—start a new page for each poem).
FICTION: Submit one flash fiction piece or one short short-story (maximum 3000 words).
CREATIVE NONFICTION: Submit one short literary essay (maximum 3000 words).
SEQUENTIAL ART: Submit one piece (maximum 5 pages).
DRAMA: Submit a scene from a play (maximum 6 pages).
TRANSLATION: Submit one poem, flash fiction piece, or one piece of sequential art translated in English from your own work written originally in a foreign language (maximum 2 pages).
Students may submit one piece in each genre. Submitting a particular piece to Cygnet does not preclude students from submitting the same piece to the Stanley Cyrus Awards in Creative Writing.
