Theatre Admissions Requirements
Students interested in becoming a theatre major must first undergo an audition/interview assessment.
Our assessment is designed to evaluate the performance and critical thinking proficiency before enrollment in our program. Assessments should be completes the first semester.
Audition/Interview Requirements
- Students must present a 1 – 1 ½ min. monologue. Monologues can be comedic or dramatic.
- 16 bar a cappella song (optional); this is recommended if you are interested in pursuing musical theatre.
- Critical Thinking
- Potential majors will be given a short script and a list of questions prior to the audition.
- Potential majors will be asked a number of questions regarding their interpretation of the script.
In addition to the above requirements, you will be asked to complete a 30 minute sketch copying a simple black and white image.
- This sketch will be utilized during the interview process to discuss needs and skills.
- This sketch is an evaluation of current skills meant as a starting point to assess growth throughout the program. No prior drawing skill or instruction required.
Students interested in design and technical theatre as a main focus should bring a portfolio, collection or representative work to demonstrate skills. This work need not be theatre related (Cosplay, excellent Halloween costumes, interior decorating, theme parties encouraged).
Assessments are held the third week of class in the fall semester.
Fall Audition: August 27, 2020 (Virtual) at 6:30 p.m.
