Humanities Student Organizations
Enhance your learning experience and meet other students by participating in several student organizations.
Clayton State University Philosophy Society
The Clayton State University Philosophy Society is dedicated to promoting student discussion and analysis of philosophy and its importance. We work closely with the Philosophy Professors in the Humanities Department to organize, promote, and fund events. Our regularly scheduled activities include weekly student discussions of issues in philosophy and the support of an annual conference of philosophy.
Phi Alpha Theta
History majors may be eligible to join Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society. This prestigious organization promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians.
Some of the benefits of joining include a subscription to the journal The Historian, eligibility for the organization’s numerous scholarships, and the opportunity to present at regional history conferences. In the past, the CSU chapter of Phi Alpha Theta has hosted a number of activities, including tours of historic sites in the area, a book club, and guest speakers.
To join, you must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours (4 courses) in history and have a minimum GPA of 3.1 in history and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
