Chief's Corner

Greetings Laker Nation!

As the new Chief at Clayton State University, I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone here for the tremendously warm welcome I’ve received since I joined in May of last year.  This campus community has truly made me feel at home.  I am so excited to partake in the future of our beautiful campus.  The “Chief’s Corner” will serve as a way for me to share information with you, the Laker Nation.

For those who aren’t familiar with me yet, I’ll share a little about myself.  I began my career in the public safety field in 2003 as a police dispatcher for the City of Snellville, Ga.  I then moved into the juvenile justice system when I served as a correctional officer from 2004 to 2006.  In 2006, I moved into campus law enforcement at the University of West Georgia.  While at UWG, I was able to serve in many capacities and was a detective, patrol supervisor, and division commander/deputy chief among others.  During my time at UWG I used my education benefit to earn a B.S. in Criminology from UWG and a Master’s in Public Safety Administration from the Columbus State Executive Command College.  I worked at UWG until coming to beautiful Clayton State University in May of 2022. 

I want to assure you that my highest priority is the security and safety of our campus.  Our department strives to provide the type of service you each deserve.  With that in mind, I want to bring your attention to the newly redesigned Public Safety webpage.  My goal with the new website is to allow you to find the resources you need quickly and easily.  Some of the changes on the website include the ability to submit your parking citation appeal online and an online portal to request accident or incident reports.

On the topic of safety, I want to remind everyone to register for the Rave Guardian app that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.  This app allows us to send you emergency information directly to your phone.  It also offers you the ability to communicate directly with our department.  The technology has replaced the old-fashioned emergency phones that used to dot our campus and should provide our community with a more flexible and modern way to alert us to our campus needs.
