The University System of Georgia requires ACCUPLACER Next Generation testing for admission and placement of nontraditional applicants. Nontraditional applicants are exempt from taking Math Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics, Reading Comprehension and WritePlacer if they have transfer credit for English I or from taking Elementary Algebra if they have transfer credit for college algebra or its equivalent.
The testing sessions below are for Clayton State University dual enrollment students, nontraditional applicants, current students' placement testing, students testing remotely from other schools, and POST candidates. Testing is done at the East Entrance of Clayton State, 5823 Trammell Road, Morrow, GA 30260, in Arbor Hall, Room 121. View the map for directions.
The Accuplacer exam is for students who have recently applied to Clayton State University and need to test in order to be admitted. This placement exam is also for those students who have been recently accepted, but want to test to attain a higher score for more advanced placement or to exempt co-requisite classes. The Accuplacer exam is for POST testing for law enforcement as well.
We strongly recommend that future Clayton State students prepare before testing, particularly in Algebra. Minimum scores are required for admission. The official ACCUPLACER preparation website. Also, see the section below on "Preparing." Admitted students may take ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra as an appeal to be placed into MATH 1101 or 1111 without remediation. See your academic advisor before scheduling. No calculators are allowed except those provided on the ACCUPLACER screen. The fee is $25 for Clayton State University students and POST (for both testing and retesting). The fee is $30 for all remote testing.
Please note: ACCUPLACER test scores are only good for one year from original test date!
Preparing
We strongly recommend that you prepare for your test so that your scores will reflect your true level of ability--especially if you have been out of school for a few years. Our students recommended these sites for preparation: Purple Math, Test Preview, or Khan Academy, and you may want to search the web for additional sites.
