There are a number of awards and scholarships available to College of Business students.
College of Business Scholarships
Students should apply for the following through College of Business during the spring semester:
College of Business outstanding graduate of the year
Application is not required. The award will be given to the College of Business student, both undergraduate and graduate, with the highest graduating GPA during current academic year. College of Business faculty approval is required.
Beta Gamma Sigma scholar award
Criteria: Must be a member of Beta Gamma Sigma; Must be admitted to the College of Business; Sophomore standing; Completed 30 semester hours at Clayton State University; Overall GPA of 3.3 or better in all classes attempted; Record of service and leadership such as participation in students' organizations, other college and university-related activities, and professional activities.
Outstanding graduate of the year (one representative per five majors)
There are a total of five awards: one award for each major of Accounting, General Business, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. The student will be selected from the pool of applicants by the faculty in the student’s major based on the following criteria:
- Senior standing
- Graduating during the current academic year
- Having earned a minimum of 30 credit hours of upper-division business courses at Clayton State University (3000 & 4000 business courses)
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or better, and 3.5 or better in the upper-division major courses (3000 & 4000 business courses) (Weight 80%)
- Record of service and leadership such as participation in students' organizations, other college and university-related activities, and professional activities (Weight 20%)
Service and leadership awards
Total of six awards available: one award for each major in Accounting, General Business, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and one MBA student. The student will be selected from the pool of applicants by the faculty in the student's major based on the following criteria:
- Junior or Senior standing
- Admitted to the College of Business
- Having earned a minimum of 30 credit hours at Clayton State University
- Overall GPA of 2.75 or better (Weight 40%)
- Record of service and leadership such as participation in students' organizations, other college and university-related activities, and professional activities (Weight 60%)
The Educational Foundation of The Georgia Society of CPAs academic excellence award
An application is not required. Per the Georgia Society of CPA's requirement, the award will be given to the senior accounting major with the highest overall GPA, graduating in the current academic year.
Atlanta Air Cargo scholarship
The student will be selected from the pool of applicants assembled by the Supply Chain Management faculty based on the following criteria:
- Admitted to the College of Business
- Are working towards a major or minor in Supply Chain Management with a minimum GPA of 2.8*
*Consideration will be given to students focusing on studies in the international trade, logistics and/or transportation business fields.
Student entrepreneur of the year award
The student will be selected from the pool of applicants assembled by the College of Business faculty based on the following criteria:
- Owns and manages a business while attending Clayton State University
- Admitted to the College of Business
- Graduating during the current academic year
- Minimum of 30 hours of completed coursework at Clayton State University
- Overall GPA of 2.75 or better
Other awards and scholarships
Students should apply for the following through the Office of Financial Aid:
James M. Cox, Jr. Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Students must be full-time status in their pursuit of a bachelor's degree within the College of Business. Additionally, students must have a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA, be a US citizen, and demonstrate financial need which is determined by completion of a FAFSA packet.
Booker T. Izell Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Cox Enterprises and its employees and friends to honor Booker T. Izell. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, be admitted to the College of Business, and demonstrate financial need which is determined after completion of the FAFSA packet. Preference will be given to continuing students who have a 2.8 or better institutional GPA, but consideration will be given to students with a 2.5 or higher GPA.
Marcia Taylor Family Foundation Annual Scholarships
The Marcia Taylor Family Foundation Annual Scholarships were established by Marcia Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of Bennett International, and Lynnette Alt, Vice President of the Taylor Family Foundation. Four scholarships will be awarded to full-time Clayton State University students of junior or senior status who are majoring in Supply Chain Management and holding an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and displaying financial need.
Heritage Bank Scholarship
This scholarship has been established by Heritage Bank. Applicants must be full-time students admitted to College of Business who demonstrate financial need as determined by completion of the FAFSA packet. Preference will be given to continuing students with a minimum 2.8 institutional GPA, but consideration will be given to those with a 2.5 institutional GPA.
