Testing Administration Options for Students with Disabilities

There are several options for providing testing accommodations to students with disabilities. Below are the most common alternatives. Please contact Disability Services at DisabilityServices@clayton.edu or (678) 466-5445 with any questions or concerns.

Option 1: Disability Services is equipped to proctor exams with approved accommodations. Students are required to test at the same time and date as the class unless a conflict exists and the professor approves an alternate time and date. To utilize this option, students must schedule their test(s) in advance with Disability Services, according to our notification policies. (NOTE: whenever possible, extended hours for testing are available with a minimum one-week prior notice.)

Professors subsequently receive an e-mail requesting verification of the time and date of the exam as well as test administration instructions. These instructions should be submitted using Disability Services Test Administration Form (TAF).

Exams can be e-mailed to DisabilityServices@clayton.edu (listed in Outlook Directory as: Disability Information & Testing Services) in one of the following formats: Word, .pdf or .rtf or hand delivered to Disability Services in Edgewater Hall, Suite 255.  Please ensure that exams are provided to our office in advance of the scheduled test time.

Option 2: Students may be accommodated in the classroom if all approved accommodations can be assured in this setting. Logistics sometimes preclude this option, so if the student chooses to take the exam/quiz in the classroom, with the rest of the class, you are not obligated to provide extended time; however, you are more than welcome if able to do so.

Option 3: Students may also be accommodated in a departmental or other office that is distraction-reduced and otherwise conducive to testing. However, in a normal business environment, this is sometimes difficult to accomplish. Again, all approved accommodations must be assured if this setting is selected.
