ETS Proficiency Profile
To help meet outcome assessments for SACS accreditation and institutional effectiveness, the abbreviated version of the ETS Proficiency Profile will be administered in September in CSU 1000 courses that meet on the main campus. This assessment is the University's only core course assessment.
Professors are requested to bring or meet their classes and assist with administering the assessment in the Testing Center* during a regular class period or designated time. There will be no make-ups. The assessment will take about 50 minutes.
This assessment measures the effectiveness of the general education curriculum in terms of reading, critical thinking, writing, and mathematics. This website will provide more information: http://www.ets.org/. Click on View Our Tests & Products, then View All Tests & Products, then ETS Proficiency Profile.
Students are to be commended if they score at or above the national mean for entering freshmen in our Carnegie classification of Bachelor's (Liberal Arts) Colleges I & II, 435.8. Scores range from 400 to 500.
Students will see their individual scores when they complete the assessment. Students are urged to complete at least 27 of the 36 questions so that their scores will be included in statistical analysis. Faculty will be emailed a group score roster after the assessment. Student incentives are encouraged from the faculty.
Seniors will be assessed in January or February in senior-level or capstone courses that meet on the main campus.
